WRAP CRCL Complaint
From Whip to WRAP: Hear first-hand experiences of ICE & CBP impunity.
ICE has operated without accountability since it was established in the post-9/11 militarization of the U.S. border. CBP’s origins have deep roots in white supremacy and racial exclusion.
The culture of impunity unleashed during the Trump administration fit these agencies like a glove. But their continued disregard for human rights now belongs to Biden.
Have these agencies gone rogue? Or are their abuses merely the work of bad actors — a few agents turning reins into whips and human restraints into tools of torture?
We invite you to address these questions, and more, with three individuals who were forced by ICE agents into restraints which completely immobilized them before and during deportation operations on 13 October and 11 November 2020.
Fatma E. Marouf, who filed a human rights complaint on behalf of the Texas A&M School of Law Immigrant Rights Clinic, will join them to discuss the legal arguments applied to ICE’s abuse of The WRAP.
Sarah Towle, author, and member of the WATB leadership team, who uncovered the heretofore untold tale of ICE torture, will moderate.
Co-signers to the civil rights complaint are African Communities Together, Black Alliance for Just Migration (BAJI), Cameroon Advocacy Network, Haitian Bridge Alliance, Texas A&M Immigrant Rights Clinic, and UndocuBlack Network.
