Our Work.

What We Do

Our overarching mission is to secure comprehensive relief for Black immigrants .

We stand in solidarity with all Black
immigrants fighting for liberation.

At the Cameroon Advocacy Network, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and advocacy for Cameroonian and other Black Immigrants immigrants and asylum seekers in the United States. Our mission is to ensure that every individual receives the assistance and resources they need to navigate the complex immigration system and build a secure future.

Our grassroots advocacy efforts are deeply rooted in the lived experiences of Black migrants, connecting the realities faced on the ground with the urgent need for policy change. By working closely with Black migrant communities across the United States, we build solidarity and collective power to challenge and dismantle anti-Blackness within the immigration system. Our frontline work at the border and in detention centers provides us with firsthand insights into the unique challenges faced by Black migrants, enabling us to advocate more effectively for just and equitable immigration policies. This direct engagement allows us to bridge the gap between policy and practice, ensuring that the voices of those most affected are at the forefront of our advocacy. By transforming the perception of immigration as a Black issue, we push for a broader understanding of the border as a trans-American, global space that includes and protects all people, especially those who are often marginalized and overlooked.

Our key areas of focus include:

Legal Aid and Representation

We offer expert legal assistance and representation for asylum seekers facing the challenges of the U.S. immigration system. Our team of dedicated legal professionals works tirelessly to defend our clients against deportation, ensuring that their rights are upheld and their voices are heard.

Deportation Defense

Our deportation defense services are designed to protect immigrants from unjust removal. We provide critical legal defense to those at risk of deportation, fighting to keep families together and ensuring that individuals receive a fair and just process.

Advocacy for Immigrant Rights

We are staunch advocates for the rights of immigrants, particularly those from Cameroon and other Black communities. Through policy advocacy, public education, and community engagement, we work to create a more just and equitable immigration system that respects the dignity and humanity of all individuals.

Community Mobilization

We believe in the power of collective action. Our community mobilization efforts bring together immigrants, allies, and advocates to build a strong, unified voice for change. We organize events, rallies, and campaigns that empower the community to stand up for their rights and demand justice.

Post-Release Support

Secured the initial designation and subsequent redesignation of TPS for Cameroonians. This has provided blanket relief from deportation and granted work permits to over 20,000 Cameroonians, ensuring their safety and stability in the U.S.

Career Orientation

We offer career orientation and support to help immigrants build successful and sustainable careers in the United States. Our programs provide guidance on job search strategies, resume building, and connecting with potential employers, ensuring that our clients have the tools they need to thrive.

Black Immigrants Bail Fund Initiative

Our Black Immigrants Bail Fund Initiative is a critical component of our work, aimed at securing the release of Cameroonian and other Black immigrants from detention. We raise and allocate funds to post bail for individuals in detention, reuniting them with their families and providing them with the opportunity to pursue their immigration cases from a place of freedom.

Through these initiatives, the Cameroon Advocacy Network is committed to standing with immigrants every step of the way, advocating for their rights, and helping them achieve the safety and security they deserve.

Legal Clinics & Know Your Rights Workshops(KYR)

Our Know Your Rights (KYR) workshops, informational sessions, and free legal clinics are vital components of our commitment to empowering Black migrant communities. Through these programs, we equip individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate the complexities of the immigration system. Our KYR sessions provide critical information on legal rights and protections, helping community members understand how to safeguard themselves and their families. We also host regular informational sessions that address pressing issues such as asylum, detention, and deportation defense. In addition, our free legal clinics offer direct access to experienced legal professionals who provide personalized guidance and support. These initiatives not only empower individuals but also strengthen our collective ability to advocate for systemic change, ensuring that Black migrants are informed, protected, and supported at every step of their journey.
